Leicester City Council has submitted a planning application for major repairs to the Victorian-era Rialto Bridge.

The Grade-II listed structure, which was built in the 1850s, has been fenced off for over a year.

It requires specialist workers and funding from Historic England.

The repairs are expected to take five to six months, and are planned for the summer and autumn if funding is secured.
